Here at Peterhead Cats Protection we are a Non-Profit Organisation ran by Volunteers who rescue, rehabilitate and re-home unwanted cats and kittens in our local area.

We only have a small number of volunteers at the moment so we are looking for your help!  If you have some spare time and would be interested in helping us please see our volunteering tab for more information or contact us on 07791 834226 or

All of our cats have been treated to our minimum veterinary standards, meaning that they have been examined by a veterinary surgeon, been vaccinated against flu and enteritis, treated against fleas, roundworm and tapeworm and any sick cats have been blood tested for FIV and FeLV. If the cat has not been neutered before or during its time in our care, we will normally ensure owners have done this after adoption. In some cases, especially where owners are in financial hardship, we may be able to help with neutering costs.  Our recommended start age for neutering within Cats Protection is four to six months.

Cats Protection charges an adoption fee of £40 which goes towards the veterinary and other cost of looking after a cat before it is adopted. As we are a self-funded charity any extra donations given by adopters are always welcome and make a great difference to our work!

One of Cats Protection’s main objectives is to find good homes for all the cats in our care. We want to make sure that the cat coming into your life is the right cat for you, your family, your lifestyle and your plans for the future.

That way, the process of settling your new family member into his new home will be that much easier and means you have the very best chance of a long and happy life together.

Unfortunately, some cats do get returned to us after being rehomed so we want to make sure that everyone, puss included, is happy with the arrangements!

We’ll endeavor to carry out a home visit as soon as possible after your initial enquiry to us. And there really is nothing to worry about – we just want the best for you and for our cats.

If you are interested in fostering for the Branch, volunteering in any other capacity, or need help regarding cats please contact us on 07791 834226.
